The goal with this newsletter is to share what I learn each week.

From insightful books, self improvement podcasts, and personal growth videos, I share what is helping me become the best version of myself.

Recently, I’ve been drawn to the psychological aspects of what living your best life means: how to find purpose, and live a meaningful life.

Extracting what I’ve learned from reading multiple experts, I’ve developed what I’m calling an Ascent Life framework. It’s a work in progress, and I’m personally testing it now.

I’m calling this framework the 6 Week Ascent Life Launch 🚀

Designed to move a person from “stuck” to unstuck” building a base from which to lean into your future self, this 6 Week Ascent Life Launch 🚀 asks questions of ourselves to stretch our vision of who we can become.

The basic framework is thus:

Week 1: Vision Stretching
Week 2: Foundational Habit Forming
Week 3: Health Foundations
Week 4: Wealth Foundations
Week 5: Wisdom Foundations
Week 6: Integration

This can be done over 6 weeks, 6 days, or even 6 hours, but it’s designed for busy individuals to take as little as 20 minutes a week to actively think, meditate, and integrate new habits becoming “unstuck” in order to live an Ascent Life: Healthy, Wealthy & Wise.

6 Weeks from today is Jan. 1, 2026—New Year’s Day.

Start the new year with a foundation of who you want to be in the future.

Again, I’m testing this now and could use some friends to come along the journey with me. If you’re down, simply reply to this email with an “I’m in,” and I’ll send you the detailed framework (It’s currently in sketch notes mode).

We’ll use the 6 Week Ascent Life Launch 🚀 as a guide to direct our thoughts, stretch our vision of who we can be, and become “unstuck.” We’ll also massage the framework as we better learn what works and how to improve.

The book I’m reading now, Be Your Future Self Now: The Science of Intentional Transformation by Dr. Benjamin Hardy, covers 3 Parts directed at the psychology of your future self:

  1. Threats to Your Future Self

  2. Truths about Your Future Self

  3. Steps for Being Your Future Self

I’ve read through Part 1: Threats to Your Future Self, and it’s amazingly insightful! I find myself underlining near full pages of passages. It’s crazy!

Here’s some of the highlights:

  • “Much of the history of psychology has been dominated by a framework in which people and animals are driven by the past.” —Martin Seligman

  • Research now shows that a person’s past does NOT drive or dictate their actions and behaviors. Rather, we are pulled forward by our future.

  • ..everything we do is driven by our prospects of the future.

  • All human-action is goal driven, even if the goal of the behavior isn’t consciously considered by the individual.

  • There is always a why or goal behind human behavior. There is a purpose or reason for all human activity… your behavior follows your purpose and goals.

  • Shifting our goals from fear-based, reactive, and short term to proactive, long term, and love-based is the path to a successful and happy life.

And, my favorite takeaway so far…

  • The quality of connection you have with your own Future Self determines the quality of your life and behaviors now.
